This application guide details the process of becoming a new notary in Texas.
Learn all about how to renew your notary commission with this helpful guide.
An errors and omissions (E&O) policy is a form of professional liability insurance for a notary public. Unlike a surety bond, E&O insurance protects notaries from financial loss if they are accused of committing a negligent act while offering notarial services.
Since notarization mistakes can result in lawsuits, most policies cover expenses related to judgments, attorney fees, court costs and settlements up to the policy's dollar limit.
We recommend E&O insurance for all notaries so they can avoid paying out-of-pocket legal fees if a file is claimed. We offer multiple coverage options to meet a wide range of needs.
After payment, we will electronically submit your information to the Texas Secretary of State. Once you receive the "Application Initiated" email, follow the additional steps on the state's online portal to complete your notary license application or renewal.
Once you receive your Commission Certificate, you must take the Oath of Office before a commissioned notary. Renewing notaries cannot notarize their own form. At the same time, the state will notify us to manufacture and ship your custom notary stamp.
Don't forget that Texas requires all notaries to keep a record of their activities. Notaries.com offers a record keeping journal that exceeds the state requirements.
