Why You Need E&O Insurance as a Notary

Errors and omissions insurance protects notaries from liability and financial loss if they commit a negligent act while performing notarial duties. With an E&O insurance policy, you can avoid paying out-of-pocket legal fees.

Application Tips

  1. If your county requires endorser signatures, have them sign the application. Endorsers are character references who live in your county of application, have known you for over 30 days and are not related to you.
  2. If your county does not participate in the online application process, contact the Clerk of Superior Court to obtain a paper application.
  3. When you take your signed application to your county's Clerk of Superior Court to finish the application process, you must pay an appointment fee that ranges from $36 to $51 (price varies by county) and take the oath of office.
